JOB SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Education & Outreach Department Manager, the Male Education & Outreach Specialist is responsible for supporting and expanding prevention education initiatives in Orange County, with a particular emphasis on initiatives that serve men and boys.

Through Laura's House Outreach & Education Programs, the Specialist works to create community-driven and culturally aware presentations focused on healthy male behaviors and leadership role models for school campuses and communities.


The Male Education Specialist is part of a team that develops and implements the organization's community education and outreach plan to expand clients' access to Laura's House services and build relationships with community partners.


The position's primary accountabilities are:
(1) Implementation of the strategic outreach plan.

(2) Facilitation of targeted outreach to youth with the Healthy Attitudes and Relationships Today program.

(3) Coordination of the 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate training.

(4) Facilitation of the Man.
Kind OC program.

(5) Facilitation of targeted outreach to adult programs with the community education curriculum.

(6) Program development, implementation, evaluation, and data management.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:


  • Collaborate with staff across Laura's House sites to carry out strategic community education and outreach plan to expand access to Laura's House services on behalf of unserved or underserved client groups.
  • Collaborate and coordinate closely with other Education & Outreach Dept. staff members
  • Execute the strategic outreach plan by completing telephone and inperson contacts with existing and potential community partners and schools.
  • Represent Laura's House at networking events, meetings, and outreach events.
  • Provide dating violence prevention workshops to youth and adults using the Healthy Attitudes and Relationships Today (H.E.A.R.T.) curriculum.
  • Coordinate and Administer 40hour Domestic Violence Advocate training for new volunteers and employees with community partners, guest speakers and Laura's House staff.
  • Oversee the recruitment and administration of volunteers and interns as needed.
  • Compile statistical and descriptive information for contract and other reporting requirements as needed.
  • Enter and manage statistical data for H.E.A.R.T. and Adult programs.
  • Provide administrative support to the Education & Outreach Department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES:


  • Maintain the confidentiality of client, staff, volunteer, and agency information. Exceptions include information pertaining to child abuse, elder abuse, danger to self or others or in response to an authorized release of information.
  • Adhere to agency policies and protocols related to the security of electronic client service records. Maintain the highest levels of accuracy in recordkeeping and reporting, ensuring that all client records and documentation of outreach, training, and other work tasks are complete and uptodate and submitted to supervisor as directed.
  • Maintain an uptodate shared calendar as directed. Carry out other duties as necessary to ensure organizational success. All Laura's House staff members are encouraged to be flexible and responsive to changes in scope of duties.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and other staff.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent the agency in a positive, professional manner at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all client, staff, volunteer and agency information.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized work area.
  • Participate in agency functions as a participant or presenter as needed.
  • Evening and weekend hours as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's degree in social science or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • Public speaking and/or training experience preferred.
  • Upon hiring, attend and complete the State Certified 40hour Domestic Violence training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent public speaking skills.
  • Advanced computer skills; Excel, Word.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
