Summary:

Under the general guidance of the Managing Director of Supportive Services, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Director and/or Associate Director of Clinical Services in providing leadership and vision and in establishing policies and procedures that effectively deliver comprehensive high-quality clinical services throughout all Safety Initiatives in a manner that is tailored to the populations served by SAFEty Initiatives, primarily within its residential programs.


The Clinical Supervisors provide leadership to the Clinical Department that leverages industry knowledge and best practices to promote the mission and vision of Heartland Human Care Services.

Supports culture development and management efforts.

In addition, the position assists in ensuring compliance with funder and licensing requirements and promoting the adoption of evidence-based interventions across its programming.

This includes coordination with internal and external partners to ensure comprehensive clinical support to participants, e.g., psychiatric services, community-based programs, and training linkages, amongst others.

This position works within a matrix approach to leadership, models and promotes collaborative approaches within and across teams, and coordinates laterally with program directors and others to ensure effective implementation of organizational priorities.


The position provides the tasks below as delegated by the Director or Associate Director of Clinical Services, or SAFEty Senior leadership staff.

Individual accountabilities and work volume will be established through the development of success objectives within the framework outlined below.


Essential Functions:


Responsibilities:


  • Provides direct supervision to clinical staff as assigned, as well as master level staff working toward advanced licensing, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Assists Clinical/ Associate Director Clinical Director in ensuring that all licensing and agency standards are being met in the area of Clinical/mental health services.
  • Models Heartland Human Care Services Leadership Qualities or 4Rs (Responsible, Reliable, Relational, and Respectful)
  • Models a multidisciplinary team approach to participant care.
  • Participates with clinical intern selection, including interviewing, screening for appropriate placement, and the designation of appropriate intern supervisors within Youth and Residential Services programs.
  • Provides support to Program Director, Management and Staff.
  • Creates, monitors, and implements group and other psychoeducational or therapeutic curricula in program.
  • Coordinates and leads the clinical group supervision/consultation meetings as assigned.
  • Manages and participates in all project meetings and maintains the minutes of meetings on a rotating basis.
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems for both employees and program participants.
  • In addition to performing the abovementioned job duties, the Clinical Supervisor will also be required to perform various coordinating and training duties. These include but are not limited to such things as preparing and monitoring staffing assignments, training employees how to perform certain job duties and suggesting how employees can improve their job performance.
  • Provides direction, training, and oversight of all therapeutic services provided by the assigned programs, including areas such as departmental meetings and clinical staff and intern selection, interviewing, screening, supervisor assignments, onboarding, and transitions.
  • Ensures staff is allocated to programs and schedules that ensure 7dayaweek coverages at programs.
  • Provides training to clinical staff (clinical as well as jobrelated practical), addresses complaints, and resolves problems for both employees and program participants.
  • Adheres to professional standards as outlined by governmental bodies, American Psychological Association (APA), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the Illinois Alcohol and Addictions Certification Board (IAACB), and private funding sources.
  • Provides direct Clinical Services as needed to address crises, model/train, or ensure successful operations of the department and program.
  • Supports provision of psychiatric services to minors in care.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Metric Management & Quality Assurance

  • Ensures program quality related to clinical operations across Safety Initiatives, including the development and review of outcome measures.
  • Ensures departmentwide timely and quality completion of all participant records.
  • Ensure staff completion of quality documentation related to clinical services.
  • Monitors quality implementation of group and other psychoeducational curricula and other therapeutic curricula as appropriate to the therape
