Our Position:
This position serves as member of our custodial team in our Building and Grounds division. This position will provide custodial services to maintain clean and safe county facilities.

Duties require cleaning of all assigned areas, which may include, cleaning and disinfecting building areas, bathrooms, and drinking fountains; emptying trash located inside buildings and transporting trash to dumpster; dry and wet mopping and vacuuming floors; dusting and spot cleaning walls and doors in high and low areas; restocking bathroom supplies; cleaning and polishing furniture; cleaning interior windows and interior/exterior doorway windows.

Perform other work as required. Uniforms are provided.

This position is a part of an approved Career Development Plan (CDP) and offers career progression opportunities and salary incentives, as funding permits, based on performance, qualifications, and experience.

Position Requirements and Preferred Skills:

High school diploma or GED and six months of experience in custodial work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Ability lift 50 lbs.

Ability to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to, walking up and down stairs, standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, and reaching overhead.

Working knowledge of tools and equipment used in custodial services and knowledge of green cleaning methods is preferred. Current valid driver's license and good driving record required.

Based on Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months.

Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Record must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
