Description

Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Specialist performs Payroll administration and accounting duties to support the Payroll Department.

This includes processing confidential information into the payroll system, auditing payroll reports, and resolving payroll issues directly with employees as they incurred.


CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Review wages computed and corrected to ensure the accuracy of payroll.
  • Update payroll records on a needed basis.
  • Prepare computer input forms, enter payroll data into computer files, compute wages and deductions, and post to payroll records.
  • Record data concerning the transfer of employees between departments.
  • Maintain records of employee leave.
  • Prepare periodic reports of employee earnings, taxes, deductions, and leave, to be distributed to upper management.
  • Troubleshoot payroll problems that may arise, and communicate with agency personnel.
  • Train agency personnel on various payroll policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Assure that the payroll records are neatly organized and conform to the Agency's policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager with monthly and annual closes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
