- Will maintain direct patient care APP practice accounting for approximately 80% of work hours.
- 20% of time dedicated to administrative duties.
- Actively works with HR regarding APP recruitment, screening, interviewing, hiring, orientation coordination, performance management and corrective action, involving key stakeholders as necessary.
- Serves as a clinical resource to APP team and coordinates ongoing education of APP staff and RN staff.
- Coordinates communication between the APP service unit and other health care areas.
- Assists with monitoring compliance with established APRN regulatory guidelines, procedures, objectives, quality assurance.
- Coordinates APP service representation to the appropriate administrative meetings.
- Identifies current and future APP service needs and shares responsibility for establishing processes to meet those needs.
- Provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and mentoring to APPs and RN's at all stages of professional development.
- Serves as a resource for others in the department with advanced practitioner billing processes, including compliance and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with Director of Advance Practitioners.
- Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current Diabetes/ Endocrinology APP practice.
- Identifies his/her own developmental level of practice and appropriate learning experience to enhance development.
- Expands demonstrated leadership abilities, administrative, and management skills as appropriate.

GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:At the direction of the Diabetes Medical Directors and Clinical Operations Director, the Diabetes Nurse Manager is accountable for the delivery of consistent high-quality, advanced patient care, nursing care and supporting the development of the staff. Drawing on a broad understanding of clinical and hospital practices and policies, the Nurse Manager will continually assess clinical issues including scope of practice guidelines and APP practice protocols.
This role involves but is not limited to, the coordination of APP orientation, staff educational lectures, and performance evaluations. The APP Manager will also collaborate with the Clinical Operations Director to ensure outpatient clinics and inpatient service areas are appropriately and consistently staffed.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Care Responsibilities:
• Assists in maintenance of patient care policies and procedures designed to affect both clinical care and operational efficiency on the APP inpatient as well as outpatient service.
• Performance management, yearly performance evaluations, and regular professional development/enrichment
• Recruitment and hiring of staff
• Orientation of new staff and ongoing training of staff
• Management of corrective action issues with staff
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
2-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner with demonstrated leadership skills.
Master's Degree
Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current nursing education practices.
