The Data Steward II provides data governance expertise, business leadership, and leads on day to day data governance and activities.
Data Stewards are a 1B oversight (risk management) role
NOT a technical data analysis role.
This position will be assigned to support one of the following LOBs:
- Commercial and Small Business
- Retail Distribution, Strategic Enablement and Data and Analytics
- Data Inventory
- Ensuring the bank does not under or over retain data
- Data Impact in Projects
- Ensuring all the bank's critical data elements are identified and monitored to maintain data quality
- Data Issues and Change
- Controls supporting these processes
Tasks include:
- Identify, manage, measure, mitigate and monitor data risks for assigned AMCB Business Segments
- Data Concentration Risk and Data Issues Themes/Trending and coordination
- Data risk and issue dashboard and reporting
- Oversight and challenge of Basel compliance
- Data Asset Risk and Data Issue trending oversight and escalation
- Understand, Implement & adhere to enterprise data management standards
Depth & Scope:
- Retains knowledge of industry and practices, including any relevant accreditation and/or testing (internal and external), as required
- Partners closely with Technology and other SMEs to drive the successful implementation of the LOB's Data Strategy for low to medium complexity data environments / initiatives
- Responsible for supporting the delivery of activities within the LOB Data Strategy
- Highly seasoned professional role requiring substantial knowledge / expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas
- Integrates knowledge of the enterprise subfunction's or business line's overarching strategy in developing solutions across multiple functions or operations
- Interprets internal / external business challenges and the industry environment, recommends course of action and best practices to improve products, processes or service s
- Acts as a technical expert / lead integrating crossfunction understanding within their own field of specialty; may manage team(s) of related specialists
- Leads crossfunctional teams or projects with significant resource requirements, risk and / or complexity
- Independently manages endtoend functional programs
- Solves or may lead others to solve complex problems; leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions
- Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify solutions
- Impacts the achievement of subfunction or business line objectives within the area they are accountable for
- Work is guided by policies and industry standards/methods
- Communicates difficult concepts; converts information to compelling business context and advice; influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders
- Works autonomously as the lead and guides others within area of expertise
- Identifies, measures and monitors current and emerging data related risks in daytoday activities, operations, products and services within the Business, to ensure activities are within TD's Risk Appetite and policies
- Governs and provides oversight of data under their stewardship, acting as a focal point for data governance within the Line of Business
- Ensures their Line of Business (LOB) adheres to data related policies, standards and meets requirements set out by the Enterprise Data and Information Management Policy and Standards
- Designs, implements, and maintains LOBspecific processes, templates, and appropriate mitigating controls, to support enterprise data policy and standards and ensure effective management and control of LOB data
- Ensures datarelated activities are compliant with applicable laws and regulations
- Provides 1st line oversight and challenge of LOB data management activities, including metadata and data quality management, data retention and disposition within BAU processes, projects, programs and change initiatives
- Escalates data risks and issues and provide advice and support to business owners in development and implementation of action plans for issue resolution
- Works in partnership with control partners (i.e., Technology Risk Management, Legal, Privacy, Office of the Chief Data Officer (OCDO), LOB First Line of Defense partners, etc.) to protect the Bank's data assets
- Delivers training, tools, and advice to support the governance and oversight of data
- Supports and helps define the Line of Business data strategy
- Promotes a strong data risk management culture
Education & Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
- 7+ year
