    Southwire Job Description

    The Supply Chain Manager is a key member of the site's Leadership Team and is responsible for overseeing the entire supply chain process at the plant, from purchasing raw materials to production planning and control, and delivery of finished products. This position leads and drives the deployment of strategic initiatives to manage the flow of materials across the value streams of the plant and ensures it runs smoothly and efficiently. The role has responsibility for Purchasing, Sourcing (non-strategic), Vendor Management, Inventory Management, Production Planning and Control, Receiving, and Shipping. This person is also responsible for building organizational capabilities and driving Supply Chain functional excellence at the site.

    Key Responsibilities

    The role encompasses a range of responsibilities crucial to the efficient functioning of the supply chain and overall operational success. Key duties include:

    1. Safety:

    • Maintain a safe working environment through accident prevention, investigation, equipment maintenance, and policy enforcement.

    2. Strategic Planning:

    • Develop and implement strategic initiatives aligning with business objectives to optimize the supply chain.

    3. Procurement:

    • Manage procurement of goods, supplies, and services for plant production.
    • Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and material availability.
    • Foster effective relationships with key suppliers.

    4. Sourcing:

    • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers.
    • Collaborate with the Strategic Sourcing team for contract negotiations.
    • Plan and manage bid processes, ensuring favorable terms.

    5. Inventory Control:

    • Develop and manage automated systems for inventory planning.
    • Monitor levels, forecast demand, and implement efficient inventory management processes.
    • Drive process improvements for high accuracy and reliability.

    6. Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP):

    • Lead SIOP process, ensuring alignment with On-Time Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity goals.
    • Ensure material availability, considering supplier forecasting, capacity planning, and continuity planning.

    7. Quality Assurance:

    • Collaborate with Quality Control teams to meet standards.
    • Manage quality audit programs for suppliers.

    8. Logistics and Distribution:

    • Manage transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities.
    • Collaborate with corporate teams for optimized processes and timely deliveries.

    9. Risk Management:

    • Conduct quality checks on electrical designs.
    • Identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain.

    10. Continuous Improvement:

    • Apply Lean and Six Sigma concepts for supply chain performance improvement.
    • Lead material cost reduction initiatives and deck building events with suppliers.

    11. Team Leadership:

    • Supervise and mentor supply chain professionals.
    • Provide guidance, support, and training for a high-performing team.
    • Drive adherence to the company's vision, mission, values, and Code of Business Conduct.

    2. Excess & Obsolete Inventory:
      • Working capital tied to inventory at risk of write-off if unsellable.
    3. Supplier Performance:
      • Evaluation based on on-time delivery, quality, lead times, and contract adherence.
    4. Customer Satisfaction:
      • Feedback from internal stakeholders on quality and timeliness of materials and services.
    5. Delivery Performance:
      • On-Time-In-Full to Promise
      • Past Due Orders
      • Manufacturing Lead Time
      • Order-to-Delivery Lead Time
      • On-Time to Request
    6. Manufacturing Lead Time:
      • Time from order placement to delivery.
    7. Forecast Accuracy:
      • Accuracy of demand forecasts compared to actual sales.
    8. Distribution Overhead Costs:
      • Costs associated with outbound product distribution.
    9. Past Due Planned Production Orders:
      • Manufacturing orders exceeding scheduled completion date.
    10. COGI Errors (Controlling Goods Issue):
      • Issues during goods issue process in SAP's MM and PP modules.
    11. Past Due Purchase Orders:
      • Unfulfilled purchase orders by intended delivery date.
    12. Blocked Supplier Invoices:
      • Invoices temporarily withheld from accounts payable processing.
    13. Purchase Order Accuracy:
      • Accuracy rate of purchase orders.
    14. Supplier Relationship Management:
      • Assessing key supplier relationships, including collaboration feedback and Past-Due Supplier Invoices.
    15. Risk Mitigation:
      • Monitoring and addressing potential supply chain risks.
    16. Sustainability Metrics:
      • Metrics related to sustainability practices (carbon footprint reduction, waste minimization, ethical sourcing).
    17. Production Schedule Adherence:
      • Percentage of production schedules met as planned.
    18. Capacity Utilization:
      • Percentage of available production capacity used.
    19. Work Order Accuracy:
      • Percentage of error-free work orders.
    20. Resource Planning:
      • Labor Productivity
      • Machine Utilization
    21. Backlog Management:
      • Order Backlog
    22. Continuous Improvement:
      • Number of implemented process improvement suggestions and their impact on efficiency and cost savings. Cost out, cost avoidance.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
    • 5+ years experience in Supply Chain Management.
    • 3+ years experience in the manufacturing industry.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
