Description

This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position working 18 hours/week.

KEY FUNCTIONS

Research Expertise and Specialization

Plans, designs and initiates research experiments and protocols in a (semi)independent manner.
Follows lab protocols and maintains accurate and detailed records of experimental data and procedures.
Evaluates and troubleshoots experiments and QC data and improves research methods.
Generates and distributes QC reports after evaluation and troubleshooting
Willing to learn and establish new techniques that are required for lab research.
Responsible for logging and tracking samples using Research Station LIMS System

Customer Service (Service Cores)

Processes orders following Core guidelines
Serves as the liaison between Core and client user groups and participate in project consultations
Supervises the use of laboratory equipment and implements safety procedures
Trains assigned lab staff in research protocol and technique
Alert supervisor to problems/concerns.
Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills are essential.
Cross train in other ATGC services and serve as a service back up a needed.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Required:
Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Preferred:
Master's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Required:
Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.
