- Interview, examine, and assess the health status of psychiatric patients with various cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders
- Observe patient behavior, activities, and mental status; perform triage and crisis intervention
- Provide and coordinate nursing care of assigned patients; may facilitate group therapy and/or education sessions
- Collect and document data and information; may perform computerized data entry
- Educate patients and families on treatment regimens and provide emotional support
- Nursing Program Graduate
- BLS Certification for Healthcare/Professional Rescuers within 30 days
- RN License in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM
- 1 year related experience preferred
- Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people
- Physical risk/injuries due to combative patients
- Chemicals and Bio Hazardous Materials requiring PPE

Description
Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse needed to provide professional nursing care for assigned patients in a mental health/psychiatric environment at UNM Hospitals. Administer medication and treatment, write treatment plans, chart and report patient's conditions, perform nursing intakes, draw blood and patient specimens, assist with special tests and procedures, among other tasks. Must have a nursing program graduate degree, BLS certification and RN license in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM. 1-year related experience preferred. Willingness to work weekdays, weekends and holidays. $8.00 additional compensation possible with Nursing Education and National Certifications. Relocation reimbursement and sign-on bonus offered.
