Description

Deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical services within the personnel, supply, and equipment capabilities of the facility.
Ensure accuracy of all pharmaceutical products prepared or processed by technical staff.
Work closely with clinical staff in developing patient wellness programs such as smoking cessation programs and asthma classes.

Provide medication information to the clinical staff as required, including in-service training on new medications on the market; Provide clinical direction of corpsmen and pharmacy technicians and provide input to government supervisors on job performance.

Maintain inventory control of all handled pharmaceuticals, especially scheduled pharmaceuticals, and uphold pharmacy security in accordance with federal and local policies and procedures.

Consult with other specialty practitioners who have been referred for pharmaceutical services.
Utilize pharmacy computer and robotic systems in accordance with MTF protocols.

Monitor and perform distributive functions for in and outpatient pharmaceutical services including work units for Unit Dose, Sterile Product, Bulk Orders and parenteral nutrition and chemotherapy.

DHA procedural instructions, Manual of the Navy Medical Department, Chapter 21 (or its DHA replacement when published); Navy Pharmacy SOP (or its DHA replacement when published); hospital instructions; Judgment is required in adapting and applying the established guidelines to the scope of services provided by the pharmacy department.

Ensure prescription directions for use, dose, medication interactions, therapeutic duplications or overlaps, allergy information, age specific dosage and other pertinent data are appropriate for individual patients.

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
Graduate from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).

Have successfully completed an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) approved continuing education of at least 15 hours which maintains pharmacy skills and knowledge in the preceding two (2) years.

One year of professional pharmacy experience after graduation within the preceding 36 months.

Possess experience in the use of pharmacy computer systems such as the DHA MHS GENESIS electronic health record or retail/hospital pharmacy computer systems.
