Qualifications

  • Availability to work first shifts 23 days per week

Responsibilities:


  • Visit commercial properties including shopping centers, industrial business parks, and office buildings to inspect waste and recycling containers and enclosures.
  • Take photos, communicate with a supervisor, and write brief reports on findings.
  • Install and provide basic maintenance to container monitors and recycling signs.
  • Purchase and maintain installation tools and equipment.
  • Transport small quantities of hazardous waste including paint and oil.
  • Educate and communicate with businesses on recycling laws and best practices.
  • Schedule waste and recycling pickups and container replacements.
  • Conduct physical waste audits during evening hours (occasionally).
  • Take company vehicle to service appointments.
  • Attend recycling conferences and client events.


Waste Not Consulting is a waste consulting firm that helps businesses to be more eco-friendly with their waste disposal and assist with managing daily trash and recycling operations.

The Field Technician at Waste Not Consulting is responsible for visiting our clients to install basic equipment and inspect and survey their waste and recycling containers and areas to ensure that operations are running efficiently.

This job requires regular driving to cities throughout Southern California and the Field Technician should ideally enjoy driving and be comfortable spending long hours in a vehicle.

This position also requires office days to write reports, upload images, make phone calls to schedule services, and maintain databases.

The Field Tech is also responsible for educating businesses and distributing flyers about waste and recycling laws and best practices.

The ideal job applicant would be comfortable talking to people and have an interest in the environment and for teaching others how to recycle.

Occasionally the Field Tech will be required to conduct a physical waste audit with other team members during evening hours and may be required to travel out of the region or out of the state.

This position would start at 16-24 hours per week depending on your availability, and is ideal for a college student looking for part time work.

The position could eventually increase to 32-40 hours per week after graduation depending on performance and the needs of the company at that time.
