The City of Redmond Maintenance Division is one of the many unsung heroes of the Public Works department, The

Water Maintenance Technicians

maintain and ensures operation of the City's water supply system to meet the needs of existing and future customers.

Redmond is part of the Cascade Water Alliance (CWA) and buys 60% of its supply from the Seattle Tolt River supply through the CWA.

The rest of our drinking water supply comes from our five municipal supply wells that serve the areas of town east of the Sammamish River.

Water Maintenance Technicians

maintain the water system in a manner that protects the public investment, protects the environment and human health, ensures compliance with state and federal mandates, and ensures that reliable service is available to all customers of the City utility system.

While we prefer prior public works water utility experience, our

Water Maintenance Technician

position is also a great opportunity for someone with skilled manual labor experience in utilities construction, specialized light and heavy equipment and vehicles, sewer, stormwater, or water utilities maintenance and/or installation.

Install and repair water mains, valves, fire hydrants, service lines, blow offs, air relief assemblies, and pressure reducing valves.

Maintain and repair City's reservoirs, wells and booster stations; includes carpentry, plumbing, concrete and masonry, general electrical, HVAC, painting, landscaping and general construction.

Prepare surfaces for painting, paint interior and exterior of buildings and facilities.
Design and adhere to job site safety plan.
Order, schedule and perform concrete pours and lay asphalt.
Perform odor and gas monitoring control prior to entering water related confined spaces
Hydro excavates to locate water mains or service lines for repair or to locate other underground utilities
Operate gate, check, and butterfly valves throughout water system
Monitor and repair pumping equipment, electric motors, SCADA, and control equipment
Maintain and service portable and on-site generators; hook up and use with transfer switches as needed
Install, repair and maintain pumps at booster stations and well sites.

Education and Experience:

Any combination equivalent to high school diploma or equivalency and one (1) year water utility, utility construction or trades experience.

Licenses and Certificates:
Valid Washington State Driver's License and a driving record that meets City standards.
