Sylvan Learning, the industry leader in supplemental education, is seeking dedicated tutors to join our team in the Los Angeles area as we work with LAUSD students and schools.

Tutors will work at local elementary and middle schools, providing support to school district teachers, as well as math and reading tutoring as needed.

Locations:
We have participating schools throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Tutors will be assigned to various school sites.


Schedule:
The program will begin on school campuses 6/18/24 for orientation. 6/19/24 will be an off day in observance of Juneteenth. Regular schedule will begin on 6/20/24 and continue until 7/19/24 with days off on 7/4/24 and 7/5/24.

Daily schedule will include hours of instruction from 8:30-12:30 with up to 30 minutes on site before and after school for prep.

Compensation:

• School Site Tutoring: $150/day (8AM1PM, classroom time 8:30am12:30pm)
• Training (up to 16 hours of inperson training if necessary): $17/hour
• Completion Incentive: Up to $400 bonus for completing entire summer program

Responsibilities:

• Support LAUSD teachers as they deliver lessons
• Deliver guided, scripted curriculum (Sylvan Ace It Program) to groups of up to 8 students in the rare event that classroom teachers are unable to deliver their lessons
• Set up and manage the learning environment
• Collaborate with Sylvan Directors to ensure smooth program execution
• Attend training provided by Sylvan and participate in shadowing experiences as needed

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Associate's Degree, or 2years college completion toward 4year degree, is required
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience is preferred.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must obtain a TB clearance and complete a live scan background check
