General Qualities:
- Has excellent communication and writing skills.
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of construction processes.
- Has excellent Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to navigate through company internetbased systems.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks which include walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Proactive selfstarter capable of setting a positive example for the staff.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Is responsible for material testing and construction inspection of concrete or bituminous roadways, bridges, and drainage systems. Maintenance & Protection of Traffic, erosion, and sediment control (E&SC) components, and earthwork.
- Under the direction of the project Supervisor, The Transportation Construction Inspector will monitor and document project activities, confirming that the roadway and/or bridge project is being built in accordance with the plans and specifications.
- Must be proactive and alert project management professionals to issues that may come up in the field.
- Provide solutions to mitigate those problems.
- Review project schedules.
- Inspect various facets of the work on the construction site.
- Take field measurements and perform calculations.
- Must be able to document the work via PennDOT's or the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission's daily inspection report and various other reports at the end of each day.
- Follow Specifications 408 and RC, BC, TC, and other standards.
- Verify that appropriate materials and construction processes are being used.
- Ensure that construction conforms to the project plans, specifications, and special provisions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsive to Client and other KSE Department needs.
Certifications /Professional Experience Required
- PennDOT Concrete Technician Certification.
- NECEPT Bituminous Field Technician Certification.
- NICET Level 3 or higher Certification in highway construction.
- American Concrete Institute Certification.
- ECMS experience to create and review PSA's (Daily Project Site Activity Reports), Work Orders and Estimates.
- ECMS CDS/V3 experience and mobile knowledge and understanding to do office documentation.
Professional Development:
- Actively participates in professional development and training and licensing.
