    Job Description:

    Overview:

    An Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer's primary role is to investigate and troubleshoot faulty Consumer Electronics like computers, Virtual Reality Headsets, home electronics, and wearables. This position requires applying principles of electronics, mechanical, and software engineering to identify the root cause of issues and provide detailed reports.

    • Perform failure analysis on Consumer Electronics devices.
    • Replicate customer reported failures and gather software logs.
    • Update and re-flash devices with new software and firmware.
    • Create various test scenarios and collect necessary failure data.
    • Utilize diagnostic equipment like oscilloscopes, audio testers, thermal cameras, and microscopes to analyze failure signatures.
    • Test and disassemble devices following engineering guidelines and technical manuals.
    • Identify and resolve failures down to the module or component level.
    • Suggest containment, corrective actions, or improvement strategies.
    • Prepare and present Failure Investigation reports to interdisciplinary teams.
    • Collaborate with different engineering departments (Quality, Electrical, Reliability, Software).
    • Organize and maintain lab spaces including testing and assembly areas.
    • Receive, track, and manage devices undergoing analysis.

    Skills Required:

    • Creativity, strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Being a team player with great attention to detail.
    • Understanding of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.
    • Knowledge of machines, tools, and engineering technology application.

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
    • Previous experience or interest in working with consumer electronics.
    • Experience in testing and repairing consumer electronics.
    • Familiarity with failure investigation techniques like 5 Why and Root Cause Tree Analysis.
    • Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and hands-on approach.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Proficiency in using diagnostic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, and standard lab tools like microscopes and soldering equipment.
    • Experience in communicating engineering solutions to technical and non-technical teams.
