The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) is the federal lead agency for national crisis management in Germany and protects the population from potential dangers in the event of a defense scenario.

This requires preparation.

In peacetime, the BBK assumes tasks for the federal government, which are primarily defined in the Civil Protection and Disaster Relief Act (ZSKG), such as supplementing the equipment of the state disaster relief organizations for civil protection and providing training in crisis management.

We ensure the quality of crisis management in a central coordination role with federal, international, and cross-sector partners. In light of these tasks, our interdisciplinary team is constantly growing.

As part of the ongoing reorganization, the department will become a two-department structure and be renamed.
