Position Overview:
The Employment Opportunity Coach is a key support for Strengthen LA, a community driven workforce development strategy.

The Employment Opportunity Coach will focus largely on managing information, assisting program participants with navigating community partner's services, and supporting career seekers in creating individualized plans for success.

The Employment Opportunity Coach will become versed in community resources with the ultimate goal of helping individuals achieve employment that leads to economic stability.


Additionally, the Employment Opportunity Coach will provide administrative support and other duties as assigned for Strengthen LA & the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce as needed.

This position reports directly to the Employment Opportunity Manager.


Essential Duties:

The Employment Opportunity Coach's essential duties include but are not limited to:

  • Gathers career seeker information for input into Strengthen LA CRM system to support program intake(s)
  • Provides coaching to support the career seekers' journey to success by facilitating partner connections, educating career seekers on resource options and availability, and developing individual success plans that lead to employment goals
  • Enters progress notes into the Strengthen LA database timely and accurately
  • Supports Strengthen LA partners in gathering documentation/paperwork needed for career seekers to access community resources
  • Tracks key performance indicators relating to career seeker program and system success
  • Conducts first contact outreach and recruitment activities to career seekers and the public
  • Identify job leads for career seekers and make referrals to best support the career seeker success plan and the needs of local employers
  • Participates in community/partner meetings and community events as a representative of Strengthen LA and the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce
  • Develop and/or coordinate training programs to enhance employee skills and performance.
  • Participate and lead a variety of outreach and organizing activities including texting, phonebanking, events, digital outreach and more.
  • Monitor and track available positions within our partner organizations.
  • Facilitate access to 'wraparound services' that could include academic support, childcare, transportation assistance, computer access or crisis assistance, available from Strengthen LA partners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Workforce Partnerships

Preferred Experience and Skills:


  • An understanding of issues related to economic and workforce inclusion and growth, with demonstrated commitment to equity, particularly regarding the economic inclusion of the region's lowincome, immigrant, refugee, and asylee residents would be helpful.
  • Be driven to act, to motivate others, and have a history of jumping in and taking initiative.
  • Be processoriented with the ability to work in a continuously evolving work environment.
  • Thrive in a fastpaced, oftenchanging environment; likes variety in work, and is comfortable with a certain amount of disruption in a planned schedule.
  • Excels at emotional intelligence and communication, including competent writing skills, confident verbal communication, and thoughtful and mature understanding and usage of social media and other onetomany communication vehicles.
  • The ability to quickly establish relationships with career seekers and partners to ensure best results.
  • Navigates the partnership complexity across organizations with diverse stakeholders while ensuring project goals are met on time.
  • Engages career seekers, community partners, employers, and others through a flexible working schedule that may include occasional weekends and/or evening hours as required.
  • Approaches work with an attention to detail, motivation, and with strong time management skills
  • The ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.

Job Requirements:


  • This position requires work in a stationary position for extended periods of time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Limited travel to and from partner sites to meet career seekers where they are at.
