- Develop and/or modify rubber formulations to meet market requirements.
- Maintain integrity of rubber formulas
- Design molds and tooling for part fabrication.
- Collaborate with vendor's chemists to develop new compounds to meet project requirements.
- Maintain relationships with rubber compound and tooling vendors.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance to develop and execute quality inspection systems of rubber raw materials.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain to evaluate and qualify the quality of raw materials from new rubber compound vendors and existing vendors.
- Support manufacturing in all aspects of fabricating elastomeric isolators.
- Mix and mill lab test batches of elastomers to meet project requirements.
- Define and make product selections for applications of VMC product including but not limited to equipment mounts, spring and polymer isolators.
- In each application, provide technical and expert support to internal and external customers in the selection of the isolator and the particular elastomer to be used.
- Provide engineering expertise in the areas of product testing, data acquisition and report writing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Skilled in mill mixing and batch weighing, physical testing and data analysis.
- Milling, calendaring and molding elastomers
- Advanced tooling design
- Detail oriented with a focus on accurate recordkeeping and report writing.
- Technical communication skills for interaction with internal and external partners and customers
- Analytical, Detail oriented and a self-starter
- Autonomous and highly organized
- BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- 10 years' experience with polymer/rubber product design and manufacturing methods
- Hands on experience with industrial fabrication methods such as milling, calendaring and molding elastomers.
- Expertise with elastomers, polymers or plastics
- Hands on experience with ISO quality requirements
- Hands on experience with AutoCAD
- Expertise in tooling design
- Experience in vibration isolation a plus.
- Knowledge of industry standards including ANSI, IBC and ASCE a plus
