The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers.

Baxter Safe Haven is a transitional housing residence for unsheltered adults.

Purpose of Position:

Assist tenants in the development of daily independent living skills, including assisting with laundry, personal hygiene and providing meals - Maintain attendance and monitor status of clients - Receive meal deliveries and maintain kitchen - Perform client intakes and provide an orientation of the facility at check in - Document intakes, bed swaps, attendance and incident reports via CARES.


Schedule:
Sunday through Thursday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm


Salary Range:
$31,164-$38,955

  • Establish and cultivate professional and positive working relationships with residents.
  • Utilize evidencebased practice models including person centered planning, motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, culturally sensitive, and strengthsbased approach are utilized.
  • Complete regular and routine checkin's of resident and inspections of the facility, including nightly bed counts
  • Ensure compliance with all health, fire, and safety codes, ensure timely handling of all violations, prevent violations whenever possible.
  • Participate in staff meetings where resident issues, operations, policies, procedures, and program outcomes are discussed.
  • Cofacilitate and participate in groups/workshops with clinical staff
  • Assist in the monitoring and development of resident's daily independent living skills (individually or in groups)
  • Conduct intakes during evenings, overnights, and weekends as needed.
  • Document in CARES intake system and ensure all clients are admitted in a timely fashion.
  • Provide daily food service (heat and serve) and ensure food delivery is stored immediately.
  • Manage operations desk: ensure documentation of client whereabouts, answer phones when necessary.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness of the building and monitor common areas.
  • Work collaboratively with building staff to assist tenants and ensure tenant safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/ Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred.
  • 12 years of applicable experience in shelter or residential setting preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.
  • Food Protection Certificate will be required.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, to prepare and submit all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner Knowledge of DHS requirements and protocols strongly preferred.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy, discretion, patience and understanding.
  • Must be able to multitask with strong organizational skills.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Prior work experience with homeless/ mentally ill individuals is helpful, but not required
  • Detail orientated and systems savvy.
  • Compassionate and personable
  • Teamorientated
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, OneDrive Excel, etc.
  • Able to use or learn multiple databases including CARES.

Physical Requirements:


  • Frequent bending, kneeling, walking, climbing, and lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Work Environment

  • Outdoor work required.
