Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position provides clinical and clerical services to clients under supervision. Incumbent may be assigned to any location and/or program within the Florida Department of Health Citrus.
Designated "Need to Know" position with access to the following:
Client files and immunization records. Has key access to medications, vaccines and medical supplies. Has access to Medical Records and may have access to Social Security numbers. Adheres to Citrus County Health Department Confidentiality, Security policies and procedures. Attends Annual Confidentiality and Security Trainings and updates. Enters time and EARs (employee activities) according to Florida Department of Health policy.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Work primarily in prenatal clinic, but may be assigned to other clinic settings to include but not limited to family planning, EPI, HIV, and Tb.
- Specimen/lab collection, processing, and performing venipuncture for clients in all clinics, including STI/ HIV testing.
- Completes electronic requisitions for laboratory tests as applicable.
- Prepares specimens for transport to outside labs.
- Conducts point of care testing including but not limited to pregnancy testing, Hgb, rapid HIV/syphilis and urine analysis.
- Takes vital signs, weight, height, and interviews clients completes medical history and reason for visit, then routes clients to clinician in a timely and organized manner to maintain efficient clinic flow.
- Reports any unusual symptoms observed in clients to clinician.
- Performs data entry into automated systems (e.g. HMS, Rehost, FLShots, Florida Wise, EHD).
- Assist with EPI/Tb investigations, DOT (Direct Observed Therapy) with Tb clients, either in clinic or at clients' home.
- Utilizes and maintains equipment including but not limited to autoclave, colposcope, LEEP machine, fetal monitor, cryopen, digital scale and thermometer.
- Assist Physician/APRN with procedures.
- Documentation of all information, actions, and results, using proper templates, in Electronic Medical Record (HMS) and Florida Shots.
- Assists with posting of laboratory results/information in client records.
- Keeps current of any laboratory policy changes and discuss with supervisor for clarity as needed.
- Follow up and case management of diagnostic studies.
- Answer telephone and assist with messages, as needed.
- Prepare reports and maintain inventory of supplies.
- Monitors all clinic logs for compliance: Laboratory log, Quality Control, Pregnancy Tests, IPO, Hypertension, Diabetes, etc.
- Cleans/sterilizes work area and equipment and replenishes stock, as needed.
- Orders clinic and lab supplies, as needed.
- Performs quality controls at the beginning of each day.
- Performs daily maintenance of equipment.
- Complies with biohazardous waste policy.
- Schedules appointments.
- Completes all required trainings within required time frames.
- Participates in community events and speaks to public health programs and services.
- Completes quarterly chart audits.

Qualifications:
Minimum - experience working in a medical office, taking patient vital signs, interacting with providers and clients. Valid Florida Driver's license is required.
Preferred - certification as a CNA, MA, or phlebotomist, more than one year experience in a medical office setting.
