The Product Design team at POLITICO exists within the Technology department and is responsible for the UI and UX of all of POLITICO's various digital products.

They are often the first to see new product requirements and are responsible for refining and enhancing those requirements with a focus on excellent customer journeys.

Product Designers work in a tight team-based environment, where co-owning experiences is the norm. They are focused both on project deliverables as well as maintenance of the larger Design System components and libraries. They are relentless learners and thrive off of each others' creativity.


What You'll Do:


  • As a Product Designer I you will work with Senior Product Designers to create design mocks which blend smart design decisions, Design System components, and creative problemsolving skills. This involves incorporating collaborative feedback into your workflow as well as providing constructive feedback to other designers and managers.
  • You will contribute to the estimation process helping to define the level of effort for upcoming work.
  • You will ensure delivery of a quality product by helping Product Managers to write detailed interaction acceptance criteria, QA instructions, and working with QA engineers in various testing efforts.
  • You will participate in discussions about anticipated user experience, user interface components, and interactive elements with engineers and QA teams to ensure our ideas of success translate throughout the processes.

What You'll Need:


  • Please provide an excellent portfolio of authentic resultsdriven UX/UI work
  • BA/BS or higher degree in Digital Design, Human Factors, Graphic Design or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Figma or Sketch
  • Experience in documenting visual branding, typography, layouts and interaction models
  • Knowledge of responsive web design layouts and structure
  • Ability to quickly grasp and distill highly complex user design issues into clean, understandable solutions
  • Ability to whiteboard, create wireframes, and highfidelity visual design comps
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to learn from and mentor team members on best design practices
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, effectively manage priorities and communicate progress
  • Portfolio examples that highlight fresh design ideas and simple design solutions that solve complex challenges
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced performanceoriented environment
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge of Design Systems and why they matter
