US Oncology Medical External Engagement Director

What you will do

  • Lead the development of the US medical engagement strategy and plan with oncology professional societies and research cooperative groups; implements the final US medical engagement strategic plan via interactions with both internal and external stakeholders in partnership with medical leads
  • Executes Scientific Expert (SE) engagement at the academic, society, and/or community level to provide information on current treatment trends, practice challenges, and key insights to enhance Amgen's knowledge of the disease state and future trend
  • Collaborates with crossfunctional teams, US and Global TA Heads and R&D leadership to ensure strategic alignment with external groups to achieve successful execution of medical initiatives and deliverables
  • Ensures alignment with Medical and Patient Advocacy teams
  • Ensures capture, analysis, and distribution of scientific insights; forecasting scientific trends from opinion leader networks, cooperative groups, and/or professional societies; distributing internally to broaden awareness
  • Maintain an active role within US Oncology medical teams to ensure awareness of potential opportunities for external engagement
  • Leads consistent communication with external stakeholders to ensure alignment of strategic objectives to ensure successful outcomes

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of relevant experience


Or:

Master's degree and 7 years of relevant experience


Or:

Bachelor's degree and 9 years of relevant experience


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Medical or scientific education or experience from similar positions
  • Advanced degree (e.g. PhD, MD, PharmD, BS, BSN, MBA) preferred or demonstration of equivalent combination of relevant educational and professional experience
  • Ability to strategically develop/implement programs that impact Amgen's longterm objectives
  • Experience in working on teams with experienced medical professionals
  • Pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle and commercialization process knowledge with understanding of other functions, including but not limited to, Clinical Operations, Commercial, Safety, Regulatory, Value & Access, and Medical Affairs
  • Oncology therapeutic knowledge
  • Experience in global/regional/local medical practice and healthcare ecosystems
  • Skilled at engagement and scientific exchange with external medical community
  • Clinical research experience
  • Ability to work in teams, crossfunctionally and independently.
  • Skilled at effectively communicating ideas and documenting complex medical/clinical concepts in both written and oral communication
  • History of solving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced understanding of issues
  • Network of medical, clinical contacts in product/therapeutic area

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
