Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) drives dramatic improvements in the health of New Yorkers by feeding people who are hungry, healing families broken apart by violence, and bridging the gaps between people and the compassionate health care they deserve. CHASI serves the most vulnerable individuals, families, and communities with critical services and programs. CHASI provides outreach, education, prevention, and direct support services for populations most affected by health disparities – the poor and working poor, low-income people with chronic illnesses, persons with criminal justice involvement, substance users, domestic violence survivors, people of color, and the LGBTQ community.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

CHASI's Next Step Resource and Recovery Center provides opportunities for people in all stages and forms of recovery to deliver and attend individual and group support activities, initiate and conduct outreach, and events celebrating recovery and reducing stigma associated with substance use. The Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and hosts several services including Recovery Center peer-driven individual and group recovery services, counseling and case management, overdose prevention services, harm reduction, and recovery-oriented community outreach, education, and the Training Institute. The Peer Training Institute is designed to promote professional growth and development for people in recovery from substance use and support the institutions that hire them.

The Director of Recovery Supports and Training is responsible for the development and management of a peer-led Resource and Recovery Center and manages the Peer Training Institute and Workforce Development. The Director is responsible for facilitating the design and implementation of outreach events, volunteer recruitment, training and retention, and support of all Recovery Center services. The Director will be responsible for the overall development and training of evidence driven curricula on substance abuse, recovery coaching, harm reduction, client-centered counseling, trauma-informed care, managing conflict, and thriving in the workplace and supervise other training staff who assist with training, planning, and facilitation. The Director will develop an ongoing training curriculum that will support professional staff that work with individuals with Substance Use and/or Opioid Use Disorder. The Director will oversee and manage workforce development through the supervision of a Workforce Development Specialist. In addition, the Director will develop learning collaboratives to support the placement and supervision of trained peers in healthcare, treatment, and social services across Staten Island. The Director will also supervise temporary part-time Intern Recovery Coaches, who are often graduates of CHASI's Recovery Coach training.
