- Identify and lead productivity initiatives related to product and processes within the Crisco brand
- Support ingredient and supplier validations as needed
- Develops new products as requested by Marketing or other cross functional team members that meet consumer expectations, cost, product claims and timing goals with manager guidance. Manages multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Help in developing strategies to evaluate current products and research new technology to develop superior products
- Oversee product stability and shelf-life testing
- Help team identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develops the necessary specifications for the products, including formula cards, material specifications and processing conditions.
- Leads the implementation of these products in the plant or contract packer.
- Strong lab and pilot plant practices.
- Understanding and mastery of Pilot plant processes and operation
- Understanding and mastery of the culinary processes and tests.
- Works with the analytical lead to create/implement new analytical measures for the new products.
- Has deep understanding of the science behind the processes utilized at Crisco to make and package shortening and oils.
- Works with Cross functional teams to develop and improve processing.
- Uses this in-depth knowledge to create cost savings opportunities and improve process efficiency.
- Develop and implement rework procedures as needed
- Acts as a shortening and oils expert within the B&G company
- Acts as Resource for operations, marketing, regulatory and legal
- Active Participant in Industry associations such as American Oil Chemists Association (AOCS) and Institute of Shortening and Edible Oils (ISEO)
- Develops and performs in-house training on all aspects of the S&O products and operations.
- Is the subject matter expert for information located in the electronic standards database.
- Works with the QA lead to ensure that the standards database is current and accurate.
- Bachelor's degree in Fats and Oils Chemistry or related field
- 10-15 years of experience in the Fats and Oils field

The Research and Development lead will be responsible for all products under the Crisco Brand which is manufactured in Cincinnati, Ohio.
This is a hands-on position, in which the individual will help to manage cross functional teams to improve existing products, help drive cost saving alternatives, and develop new products.
The research scientist position develops products and processes that facilitates growth of sales and profits of Crisco by meeting performance, timing, and financial hurdles.
