OVERALL DESCRIPTION:


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Supports and sets up print files for signs and maps for Capital funded improvement work at stations, facilities, employee facility improvements, and Project Metro, Reimaging Regional Rail, and Bus Revolution initiatives, among others following standards outlines in the Authority's graphics standards and ADA Sign guidelines.
  • Oversees installation of signage systems and other service communication tools in facilities to ensure consistency with specification and standards.
  • Collaborates with the IT, Communications, partners on design/redesign of website, Intranet, and microsite. Provides hifidelity prototype, graphic assets/files, and specifications for frontend development.
  • Performs quality control/user testing on the website/app before launching for consistency with the SEPTA's brand, ADA compliance, and using User Experience/User Interface (UX/UI) best practices.
  • Works with Design & Print Services teams on a variety of communication tools for the SEPTA service communications programs and initiatives.
  • Provides art direction, conceptual design, branding guidance and templates including the infographics/charts, layout, and photography to partners to support the Authority in efforts to improve service communications.
  • Prepares print ready artwork for production of materials; develops specifications for internal and external print production jobs.
  • Project manages job requests, assists with technical problems and questions, plans and schedules project deliverables and status for print, web, and digital projects.
  • Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

DISCIPLINE RESPONSIBILITIES:


Vehicle Wayfinding responsibilities also include:


  • Define and design features for screens that help riders meet their needs while navigating their transit journey.
  • Create prototypes for testing; coordinate and run testing sessions.
  • Define content types, display logic, and create templates for legible and consistent information.
  • Follow the design standards of SEPTA; build digital passenger information standards across a wide range of new rail vehicles.
  • Define branding, advertisement interfaces, and exterior liveries, coordinating with other Communications departments as needed.
  • Review of all interiors and communications (passenger information) design review packages. Evaluate virtual and physical mockup activities.
  • Communicate logic and designs that engineers can successfully implement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Urban Design, Interactive Design, with a minimum of three (3) years related experience and/or training creating design/digital/print production required. Graduate degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
  • An understanding of the principles of transit planning and/or operations and how to communicate complex information simply is required.
  • Advanced Technology skills working in Adobe Creative Suite including but not limited to: lnDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Bridge, and Dreamweaver required on Apple and PC.
  • Must have working experience with Microsoft Office Suite Skills Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).


  • Project Management Skills

  • Must be selfstarter, take initiative, takes feedback well, and continually adapt to changing requirements.
  • Must possess excellent design, presentation, and organizational skills; be able to handle multiple assignments and meet shortnotice deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge preparing specifications for external printing projects as required and preparing print ready artwork and digital files for inhouse and external production required.
