About the role_

The Lead of Research Lab.

Operations is a full-time position responsible for the efficient management and coordination of the day-to-day operations of our research and development laboratories based in Duarte, CA.

Oversee teams of scientist, engineers, and other professionals, who work on developing new procedures or the improvement of an existing ones.

Ensures research and Development activities will maintain an organization's competitive position and profitability.

This role requires excellent leadership, vision, business acumen, communication, and organizational skills, as well as meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to safety.

The Head of Operations will work closely with the laboratory staff to ensure that laboratory operations run smoothly and efficiently.


Objectives of this role:

Strategic Planning: Define the strategic direction for research and development activities, aligning them with the company's goals.

Innovation Management: Foster an environment of innovation to develop new products, services, or processes.

Laboratory Operations: Manage daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and ethical practices.

Project Management: Oversee R&D projects from ideation through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

Team Leadership: Lead, recruit, train, and evaluate laboratory and R&D staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.

Budget Management: Allocate and manage the R&D budget effectively, ensuring resources are available for essential projects.

Compliance and Quality Control: Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and quality standards.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • What you'll do_
  • Manage the overall operations, including personnel, equipment, supplies, and overall safety.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate records of laboratory activities and staff.
  • Oversee and ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance across all operations.
  • Develop, implement, and improve protocols and systems for efficient operation of the laboratory.
  • Managing relationships with suppliers of raw materials and other inputs used in product manufacturing.
  • Train and supervise laboratory personnel in equipment use and laboratory safety.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory inventories, equipment, and supplies.
  • Schedule and coordinate laboratory activities, including team meetings and projects.
  • Monitor and ensure quality of data generated from laboratory activities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations as needed.
  • Liaise with external vendors and suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain rigorous quality control processes to uphold data integrity.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we're looking for_

̈ Education and Behavioral Competencies

  • Master's degree in a related field, such as laboratory science, engineering, biology, or biochemistry.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Biotech Companies management.
  • Proven knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
̈ Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Managing relationships with suppliers of raw materials and other inputs used in product manufacturing.
  • Experience managing and mentoring teams of engineers and scientists.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety requirements.
  • Skill in utilizing organization and time management and in effectively managing multiple priorities on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to analyze and develop guidelines, procedures, and systems to outline specific goals and implement plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
