Job Summary:

The Labor & Delivery unit at Hartford Hospital boasts 16 labor/delivery/recovery beds, 5 obstetric triage beds, and a surgical suite with 3 dedicated ORs for cesarean delivery.

This role involves ensuring the availability and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room for each procedure, assisting the surgeon during operations within professional and legal boundaries, and contributing to post-operation room cleanup. This position reports to the Manager.

Qualifications

A minimum of one year of prior Surgical Technologist experience, preferably including exposure to Cesarean sections.
Successful completion of a surgical technician program.
Certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
Maintaining CPR and BLS certification with annual Validation Day attendance.
Familiarity with various surgical procedures, ability to anticipate surgeon's needs, and identifying surgical equipment and instruments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Strict compliance with sterile field maintenance regulations.
Knowledge and application of basic care and patient safety principles.
Practice of aseptic principles to ensure optimal patient care with expertise in handling OR emergency situations.
