Job description
Job ResponsibilitiesUnder limited supervision, provides social work services to juveniles committed to the Coastal Evaluation Center. Services include screening, assessment and orientation of juveniles upon admission and case management during the court-ordered diagnostic evaluation program. Provides case management for juveniles assigned to caseload. Monitors juveniles during the evaluation process. Serves as chairperson of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Coordinates recommendations and a comprehensive plan for services with Institutional Psychology, DJJ Community Specialist and representatives of other children's agencies.
Conducts diagnostic individual and group counseling sessions with juveniles focusing on treatment goals in individualized service plans in order to enhance the juveniles' ability to function in more socially appropriate ways.
Conducts family counseling and parenting training sessions to prepare juveniles and their families for reunification.Integrates behavioral observations and a needs-based assessment to produce a social worker report containing recommendations for intervention, judicial action and placement.
Offers testimony in family court when subpoenaed.Provides intake services to juveniles on a rotating basis:
Duties include, but are not limited to, conducting a medical screening and mental status assessment of each juvenile admitted; conducting individual or group orientation sessions; and preparing summary admission reports for the social work staff.
Provides on-call services to the institution on a rotating basis.Minimum And Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree in a social work or social welfare program accredited by the Council on accredited institution, plus experience as a professional social worker.
A Master's degree from a Social Work program accredited by the CSWE and one year professional social work experience
Necessary Special Requirement:
Licensed as a LMSW or LISW by the SCBSWE; MT&E. Requires thorough knowledge of Social work principles/practices/techniques personality principles/group dynamics. Considerable knowledge of supervisory methods/techniques. Ability to integrate/coordinate specialized services with those of other disciplines. Drug testing required.
