Pay Rate - $ $53.00 per hour

Summary of Position

  • Under the direction of a physician, administer radiopharmaceuticals intravenously to detect diseases, using radioisotope equipment to produce high quality, diagnostically accurate images in a manner that is safe and effective for the patient.
Principal Accountabilities

  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals intravenously to detect diseases, using radioisotope equipment, under direction of a physician.
  • Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals in patients' bodies, using a camera to produce computergenerated images.
  • Use processing software to prepare computergenerated images for interpretation by a physician.
  • Perform quality control checks on laboratory equipment or cameras.
  • Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment.
  • Calculate, measure, and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used, and disposed, using computer and following physician's prescription.
  • Process cardiac function studies, using computer. Record and process results of procedures.
  • Assist in preparing the final report for each test performed.
  • Gather information on patients' illnesses and medical history to guide the choice of diagnostic procedures for therapy.
  • Assist in preparing intake charts (including clinical data, consent form, referral form, and authorization information) for patients prior to testing appointment
  • Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provides them with assistance during test procedures.
  • Prepare stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients.
  • Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures.
  • Review cumulative monthly radiation dosage reports for all nuclear staff with radiation safety officer.
  • Assist the radiation safety officer with any documentation needed by DOH for safety audits.
  • Assist in maintenance of Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) accreditation.

Pay:
$ $53.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
