50 (Portland Metro) Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill multiple part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) PRAx Driver positions for the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx) at Oregon State University (OSU).

The Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx) is hiring multiple part-time drivers to transport touring artists and performance groups scheduled to present in PRAx during the opening season, April 1 to June 15, 2024.

Position Duties

PRAx employees will drive OSU Motor Pool vehicles to and from Corvallis and the Portland International Airport or the Eugene Airport as performance groups arrive in Oregon and depart following their performances.

Drivers may also be asked to transport performance groups within Corvallis for rehearsals and other engagement activities.


Driver responsibilities include:

• Safely operating 12-passenger vans, box trucks (as needed), and sedans.
• Attending and participating in PRAx onboarding and safety meetings.
• Ensuring the vehicle is clean and presentable before and after transportation.
• Representing OSU and PRAx with professionalism and respect.
• Maintain a working knowledge of state and local driving laws and always comply with those laws.
• Understanding PRAx's mission and presentation goals.
• Becoming an authorized driver through OSU Motor Pool.
• Completing the OSU Motor Pool van safety training.
• Maintaining a current, valid Driver's License.
• Maintaining consistent and timely communication with supervisor.
• Responding to incidents in a timely and thorough manner.
• Other driving related duties as assigned

Hours will vary depending on individual performance group itineraries and could include early mornings and evening hours.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
• High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
• Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
• Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term
• Graduate student officially admitted to

Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

• Graduate international student officially admitted to

Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term** International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered full-time by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions (as per Voluntary and Compulsory Driver Standards OSU Standard as per OSU Standard et seq.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
