    Assistant Produce Manager

    FULL-TIME

    $16.20/hr

    Responsible for receiving product and ensures thataisles/freezers and refrigerators are stocked, labeled, clean anddelivered product is packed out, and proper customer service isprovided.

    Essential functions:

    •Ensure proper customer service and works to develop relationshipswith large customers.

    • Supervises all activities in theproduce department including product placement, rotation, signage,and displays.

    • Responsible for overall departmentappearance, cleanliness, and adherence to both government andcorporate ordinances.

    • Must maintain records asrequired.

    • Supervises and works together with ProduceSupervisors (if applicable) and Stockers to assure that the produce
    department is operating in a manner that adheres tocompany standards.

    • With the Produce Manager, developsschedules, monitors performance and recommends the properdiscipline as appropriate.

    • Trains employees in jobresponsibilities and safe operating procedures

    • Assistswith candidate interviews and recommends for hires.

    •Disciplines employees when necessary and recommendsterminations.

    • Ensures that employees are performing theproper inspections to meet HACCP regulations as well as conductingperiodic HACCP audits.

    • Reviews inventory for productrotation on a daily basis to prevent shrinkage anddamages.

    • Ensures that shelf pricing is correct andreflects the most recent pricing and market conditions.

    •Supervises the receiving of all produce and ensures that the properpaperwork is completed.

    • Maintains accurate computerinventory levels by having physical inventories performed on aregular basis and adjustments made.

    • Maintainsrefrigerated equipment and makes sure maintenance contracts andschedules are followed.

    • Supervises the ordering ofproduce from vendors on a regular basis to assure we havecompetitive pricing and minimal shrink due to spoilage and not havetoo much inventory on hand.

    • Makes sure all theemployees in the department can work the equipment such as Toledoscale and Dennison label machine.

    • Coordinates that thepallets stored in the racks have the proper block and datetags.

    • Follows program to maintain the cleanliness ofthe area by a regular maintenance schedule of scrubbing, andpulling
    out pallets and cleaning underneath.

    •Ensures that excess inventory not slotted on floor is stacked inoverhead racks in close proximity to where it is sold or stored infreezers/refrigerators.

    • Assures that trash is removedfrom floor and properly handled.

    • Makes sure that lowstock/out of stock information is communicated to the InventoryController after carefully checking the system and rack forproduct.

    • Maintains that all signage is correct and thatthe flyers prices are reflected on the product.

    •Coordinates proper merchandising of aisles (logical adjacencies,proper holding power, space allocation) and creatively merchandisesand sets up impulse areas for merchandising.

    • Performsweekly self-audits of the produce department.

    Qualifications
    • Can lift 50 lbs
    • Must be at least 18+years old
    Knowledge of HACCP systems isdesirable Prior experience in produce department including orderingand receiving products Creative merchandising skills Ability towork in a refrigerated environment (30 degrees) for extendedperiods of time At least 4 years experience in customer service
