The New York Climate Exchange (The Exchange) is a new not-for-profit climate solutions center designed to build community, foster collaboration, advance climate knowledge, and empower marginalized communities through cross-disciplinary networking, impactful programming, and cutting-edge facilities.

While The Exchange will have a physical presence on Governors Island, its spirit and influence will extend beyond the Island into New York City and across the country and world.

The New York Climate Exchange ("The Exchange") seeks to recruit a Director of Advancement Operations to lead the auxiliary operations of its Advancement team. This role will be a key partner to The Exchange's Chief Advancement Officer and will provide leadership for a portfolio of communications, prospect and data management, donor relations, and gift management functions that are critical to operating an efficient and effective advancement operation.**Applicants should feel comfortable working in a fast-paced, start-up environment, requiring flexibility with tasks and roles. This position is full-time. The individual filling this role will primarily work in-person in the New York City area. Periodic remote work is allowed with prior approval.

The position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer.


Salary and Benefits:
Salary for the
Director of Advancement Operations & Administration is between $125,000 - $175,000 per year. The position includes eligibility for generous health and retirement benefits, and paid time off/sick leave.


Salary will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, education, licenses, and specialized training.

The above hiring range represents The Exchange's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.


Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Chief Advancement Officer at The Exchange, significant responsibilities include:


  • CRM Management:Has primary responsibility for tracking and management of donor/gift records, contact reports, and data processes/workflow to ensure the highest level of data integrity, efficiency, and functionality.

Advancement Communications:Produces high quality collateral materials that clearly and effectively communicate The Exchange's mission, vision, and fundraising priorities to key constituencies and prospects.

Proposal Development:Partners with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Advancement Officer, and Managing Director of Programs to develop compelling gift propositions and proposals for key prospects capable of transformational philanthropy for The Exchange.

Grant Writing Collaboration:Collaborates with The Exchange Grant Specialist and Managing Director of Programs to identify and develop synergistic grant funding opportunities for philanthropic foundations.

Stewardship: Collaborates with the advancement staff and organizational leadership to plan and deliver timely, high-quality stewardship for Exchange donors including ensuring timely follow-up actions, impact reporting, and donor special events.

Donor Relations:Works directly with individual and organizational donors and advancement staff to manage pledge payments, handle inquires, and clarifying issues of concern.

Prospect Development:Provides gift officers with donor-centric, data-driven strategy for identification, engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of key donors and prospects capable of significant philanthropy to The Exchange.

Portfolio Management:maximize effectiveness of fundraising portfolios by tracking moves management activities and building out principal and major gift pipelines. Makes strategic recommendations for assignment of new prospects, reassignment of existing prospects, and closure of prospects who do not demonstrate philanthropic inclination for The Exchange.

Data Analysis/Reporting:Analyzes key advancement metrics such as progress to goal, donor/prospect pipeline, patterns of giving and characteristics of current donor pool to provide timely and relevant reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and Exchange leadership.

Gift Processing/Financial Management:Serves as the primary contact for The Exchange Director of Administration and partner institutions for gift agreement management, gift reconciliation, troubleshooting gift entry adjustments, and acknowledgement of gifts.
