SUMMARY
Are you an experienced, detail-oriented cost accounting professional? We are seeking a skilled cost accountant to join a growing food and beverage manufacturer and distributor.
As a Cost Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing financial data, particularly inventory and cost of goods sold to ensure accurate cost reporting and contributing to our company's success.
Position is in the Los Angeles, CA areaRESPONSIBILITIES
Cost Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze cost of goods sold and investigate variances.
- Track, collect, analyze, and report on cost accounting data.
- Prepare standard cost reports, monitor inventory levels, and conduct cost comparisons between standard vs actual costs.
- Perform product costing analysis and track variances.
- Make accurate journal entries to reflect costrelated transactions.
Inventory Oversight:
- Take a leading role in automating inventory management and cost tracking process utilizing an ERP system.
- Track accurate inventory records of purchases, production, and depletion of inventory.
- Reconcile periodic inventory count with accounting records and investigate discrepancies.
- Monitor the accumulation of direct labor, overhead, and other manufacturing related costs. Perform inventory KPI ratio analyses and determine a reasonable estimate of reserve for obsolete and slowmoving inventory.
Collaboration and Accuracy:
- Work closely with other departments to ensure precise costing, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Investigate discrepancies in financial records and contribute to monthend closing activities. Interpret accounting rules and maintain compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Strategic Cost Management:
- Develop strategies to reduce costs and optimize product pricing.
- Study pricing models to maximize return on investment for the company.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with an emphasis on accounting.
- CPA or CMA certification highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment, preferably CPG or food manufacturing industry, with a deep understanding of cost accounting.
- Expert level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyze and summarize large sets of data into meaningful and actionable presentation.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management tools, such as Aspen Canopy, or other related accounting software.
- Familiarity with GAAP and monthend closing activities.
- Must be able to work onsite, Monday through Friday.
Pay:
$80, $100,000.00 per year
