    Enjoy working outside? Looking for a temporary role that pays $15* per hour? Join our Department of Public Works seasonal team The City of Fishers is hiring 25+ Seasonal Laborers to help with spring and summer grounds and street maintenance. These positions perform general labor supplementing the non-seasonal workforce to ensure city streets, rights-of-ways, parks grounds and facilities are maintained. *Returning staff receive a step increase in wages. We are hiring now for the following start dates: 5/8/24; 5/15/24; 6/5/24; 6/12/24 and are flexible on end dates for returning to school.

    Examples of Duties

    Roles available in the following Departments:

  • Streets Team – Road and sidewalk repairs and maintenance, rights-of-way maintenance, traffic control, mowing, trimming, weeding, event support, etc.
  • Parks Team – Mowing, trimming, weeding, athletic field maintenance, restroom maintenance, trash collection, event support, etc.
  • Water Quality Team – Assist on sanitary and storm sewer cleaning and maintenance, project assistance, traffic control, etc.
  • Building Maintenance Team – Assist with upkeep and maintenance of all municipal facilities. Previous experience in construction or building repairs needed.

    • Minimum Qualifications

  • Prefer 18 years of age or older but will consider younger qualified applicants;
  • Valid Driver's License with 3 years of experience and the ability to be insured to drive a city vehicle is preferred but not required;
  • Must be able and willing to work outside in all weather conditions;
  • Position will be required to work some evenings, weekends and holiday hours ;
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 lbs.;
  • Ability to use tools, equipment, and machines as needed for daily work while following all safety protocols;
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of people;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
