    ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Civil Rights Office is looking for a Civil Rights Program and Compliance Specialist 1 to help us Keep Alaska MovingWhat you will be doing:PCN assists the Contract Compliance section of the Civil Rights Office (CRO) and is responsible for the administration of contract requirements for a number of external federal programs such as Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), On-the
    • Job Training (OJT) and Title VI.
    At times this position may also receive, process, make determinations, and ensure that all certification decisions are based on 49 CFR Part 26 by verifying the qualifying status of businesses and that businesses have the appropriate classifications for use on USDOT-funded projects.

    PCN prepares, analyzes, collects data, performs on-site visits to determine compliance with required contract provisions, writes reports of finding and makes recommendations; reviews, evaluates, and formulates DBE goal and Good Faith Effort requests in an expeditious manner.

    At times, this position may also ensure that certification applications are thorough and compliant with federal regulations on certification and annual reviews of DBEs, conducts validation interviews, investigations, and on-site inspections of businesses to determine if applicants meet the eligibility requirements for DBE status; directly assist in implementing various Civil Rights policies and procedures within the Civil Rights Office.

    The working environment you can expect:
    This position is located at 2200 East 42nd Avenue in the Annex Building in Anchorage. The building is located at the intersection of Lake Otis & Tudor. It is a shared office with another member of the Civil Rights Office team. Work is primarily conducted in an office setting at a computer or collaborating with others.
