    Homeless Services Manager

    Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5 pm

    Salary: $58,269

    The Safe Harbors Program is intended to reduce homelessness by providing housing first. It is also designed to maximize consumers' opportunities and independence by providing quality support, training, and individualized services to individuals who are homeless and suffer from severe mental illness (SMI) or SMI and co-occurring substance use disorders (SUD). Individuals served must be single adults who have been homeless for the past year or experienced numerous episodes of homelessness over the year and are not currently engaged in any treatment or community services. Documentation of homelessness is required.

    The Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board seeks a compassionate, experienced Manager to lead our Homeless Services Program. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to positively impacting the lives of homeless individuals and families by overseeing the development and implementation of adequate support services.

    The Homeless Services Manager makes life-and-death decisions, interventions, and assessments affecting the people served by Homeless Services. The Homeless Services Manager coordinates and intervenes in the work of subordinate outreach and residential workers to ensure effective and responsive service to the clients. Assessments by the Homeless Services Manager are used as a basis for subsequent service planning and referral. The manager is responsible for identifying needed programs for the homeless, policies and procedures, and staff development needs of the team supervised. Finally, the Homeless Services Manager ensures agency policy is followed and oversees the disbursement of agency monies.


    Homeless Services Manager Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services and three (3) + years of direct care experience in homeless services to the client population assigned. One year of supervisory experience. Valid Driver's License.


    The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal history fingerprint background investigation, DMV record check, Child Registry search, drug screening test and employment reference checks.
