    Description

    We are looking for a Staff Geotechnical Engineer who wants to learn about multiple markets and complete elements of civil projects while being mentored by an Engineering Manager. Focus on gathering data, interpreting that data, preparing reports, client interactions, and minimizing liability.

    Essential Functions

    · Assist in the preparation of deliverables and correspondence, including geotechnical analyses and calculations.

    · Interpret data and incorporate subsurface conditions into project analyses and recommendations.

    · Deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations and effectively communicate technical/scientific information.

    · Establish, perform and/or coordinate appropriate laboratory testing to meet project needs.

    · Assist in the development of proposals and reports.

    · Perform fieldwork as necessary, including geotechnical investigations and construction materials testing.

    · Read and interpret documents such as safety procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, testing procedures, and project plans and specifications. Write reports and correspondence legibly, accurately, and professionally. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, supervisors, and co-workers.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    · Experience and familiarity with geotechnical software including gINT, slide2, Settle 3D, and AllPile.

    · Knowledge of topographical and boundary surveys, improving site utilities, foundations, and soils.

    · Proficiency using personal computer and of various software tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, GIS, Adobe Photoshop, etc.).

    · Ability to use documented and defined processes to meet and exceed client standards.

    · Ability to meet agreed-upon deadlines.

    · Ability to be detail oriented and flexible with changing priorities.

    · Ability to apply reasonable judgment and understanding to carry out instructions.

    · Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team environment.

    · Ability to work remotely, as needed.

    · Adherence to STRATA's drug and alcohol policy.

    · Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

    · Ability to travel as necessary to support project work and/or other offices.

    · Physically able to properly lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

    · Work safely in adverse weather conditions including extreme hot and cold temperatures.

    Education and Experience Requirements

    · B.S. in Civil Engineering.

    · 1 to 5 years' progressive experience in the field of geotechnical engineering.

    · Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and registration/certification as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT).
