    Description

    Job Title: Diesel Mechanic at Ozinga

    Summary:
    The Diesel Mechanic plays a crucial role in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and commercial motor vehicles. A highly organized individual is required to carry out diagnostic testing, analyze results, and repair/replace various components such as engine, steering, transmission, braking, and lighting systems.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair vehicles and commercial motor vehicles
    • Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and commercial motor vehicles
    • Maintain parts and inventory
    • Keep detailed records of serviced vehicles
    • Conduct test drives to evaluate performance
    • Follow inspection procedures for Commercial Motor Vehicles
    • Maintain shop cleanliness
    • Meet additional job requirements as needed

    Qualifications:
    • Certified Diesel Technician preferred
    • A/C Certified preferred
    • DOT Air Brakes Certified preferred
    • Proficiency in diagnostic testing on vehicles and engines
    • Electrical (wiring) knowledge is a plus
    • Strong aptitude for mathematics and science
    • Advanced understanding of diesel engine components

    Experience:
    • Preferably 3+ years of experience as a mechanic specializing in diesel engines and commercial motor vehicles
    Skills/Abilities:
    • Ability to effectively use maintenance and repair tools
    • Highly organized with multitasking capabilities
    • Attention to detail
    • Good computer skills
    • Adaptability to new technologies

    Working Conditions:
    • Fast-paced work environment
    • Exposure to mechanical parts, vehicles, chemicals, and varied weather conditions
    • Occasional high noise levels requiring hearing protection
    • Professionalism and composure in stressful situations
    • Travel may be necessary

    Physical Requirements:
    • Talking and hearing abilities are essential
    • Standing, walking, using hands, and reaching is frequent
    • Occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling
    • Visual acuity for close, distance, color, and peripheral vision
    • Operate equipment controls effectively
    • Maneuvering around plants, yards, and jobsites
    • Capability to lift and carry weight of up to 50 to 100 pounds
