As the Circular Economy Program Environmental Specialist, you will help champion environmental design and due diligence as it relates to Eastman's 2nd US molecular recycling plant.
You will work with the project team, Environmental Affairs, and local HSE teams to steward application needs and balance design with operating impact.
You will help to collate and steer best practice design, help to determine where plant waste streams are optimally suited, ensure that the plant is designed and built-in accordance with the Texas regulation and the permit requirements.
You will be part of the design team and participate in engineering reviews, PHAs, 3D model reviews, in order to get the necessary input to completed your deliverables.
This assignment will migrate into pre-start-up reviews, commissioning checks and start-up, and ultimately to put in place and operate the compliance programs.
Support necessary permit submissions for the circular economy investment in a timely manner with enough application accuracy to avoid rework.
Assist in developing, communicating, and tracking the required engineering deliverables where multi-step development is necessary to obtain the licensing and legal compliance requirements.
Facilitate and assist in providing information necessary for timely completion of estimates of air, water and wastes which support regulatory requirements.
Assist in summarizing, communicating, and tracking design aspects critical to complying with air, water and waste permit/regulatory requirements for performance, monitoring and/or recordkeeping requirements (e.g. legal compliance)
Assist as required with Texas Env Operation's led representation of EASTMAN site interests at government agencies and associations. Represent the design team's environmental aspects with consultants, service companies, and within Eastman
Participate in risk assessments as needed (PHA, environmental impacts analyses led by TXO EO and/or consultant) and facilitate information needs capture and timely resolution of action items.
Collaborate with other environmental resources throughout the company to benchmark and identify best practices.
Draft SOP's for environmental compliance programs for the investment site to operate post mechanical completion and set up associated training.
Serve as a resource for practices, programs, and analysis/resolution of issues in environmental compliance, data collection, and reporting which may include complex analysis or solutions.
Bachelor of Science degree in chemical or environmental engineering or equivalent technical degree
5 years exempt level experience in project, manufacturing or environmental assignment that requires interaction with manufacturing plants
Demonstrated knowledge in environmental regulations in a chemical manufacturing setting
Knowledge of TCEQ requirements
Proven ability to timely implement and execute established plans and procedures
Basic computer aptitude (database use, spreadsheets, word processing, presentation preparation)
Strong communication and negotiation skills to interact and influence all levels within the company and outside the company
Ability to simplify complex material or situations
Flexible to adapt to changing priorities quickly and effectively
Strong organization skills and ability to find practical solutions to environmental issues
Effective communicator and works collaboratively multi-faceted team environment
