Position Overview
The Community Advancement Program Coordinator position is a critical and valued member of the BSP team.

The Community Advancement Program Coordinator helps achieve the mission statement of BSP through the implementation of administrative functions at the highest standards.

The Community Advancement Program Coordinator reports directly to the Community Advancement Area Manager. The established guidelines are set forth by the leadership at BSP.


Primary Responsibilities:


Project Management - Coordinate with various stakeholders including participants, employers, labor, and industry experts to implement new & existing vocational and community based programs. Understand scope, deliverables of the programs to monitor and report the progress towards those funding sources deliverables.


Work in a Labor and Management Environment - Understand the ecosystem under which BSP provides programming and services. Support in the creation of win-win partnerships between Labor (union and union members) and Management (employers) in service of Building Skills Partnership's mission.


Participant Recruitment and Engagement - Outreach and recruit participants within SEIU-USWW to participate in BSP programs. Create marketing materials, phone scripts, mass text messages and other forms of communication to ensure attendance to workshops, classes, special events and other BSP programs.


Case Management - Provide individualized support to participants in relevant programming via coaching, 1-1 workshop sessions and mentorship. Track services provided, benchmarks and other outcomes in appropriate data management systems.


Instruction Oversight - Support Curriculum Development and Instruction team in oversight instructors, ensuring that appropriate policies and procedures are being followed. Through interaction with instructors and students gather information to maintain standard and integrity of BSP class/workshop delivery.


Data and Evaluation - Collects, enters, and manages program data on appropriate management systems including but not limited to G-Suite, Salesforce and CalJOBS. Utilize collected data to report deliverables, evaluate participant's success, & suggest program improvements.


Community Liaison Representative - Represent BSP in a professional manner to internal and external stakeholders and partners to expand and improve delivery services for workers. Establish working relationships with union network employers and their clients, when appropriate to support with the development of a Labor Management Committee (LMC).


Grant Tracking, Reporting and Compliance - Assist with writing grant reports documenting the progress towards and/or completion of project goals and deliverables as outlined in contracts with public, private and other funding entities. Will utilize existing data management systems to present information promptly and in an organized fashion.


Marketing and Communications - Market programs and services to participants and employer partners interested in worksite and community based classes/workshops. Will create marketing materials, meeting agendas, flyers, information sheets, and presentations for programs and services provided to members of SEIU-USWW. Support communications team in the collection of data and impact stories to be highlighted via statewide internal and external communications.


Curriculum Development and Improvement - Assist and support in the creation of curriculum for program implementation. Support in thecreation and implementation of feedback mechanisms to assess instructor feedback to student and teacher handbooks to adapt curriculum as needed.


Required Qualifications:


  • Bilingual Proficiency in Spanish AND English, written and verbal is
    required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice.
  • Motivated selfstarter who is also a solid team player.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of work experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree or significant work experience in program management/implementation, nonprofit management, or comparable work.
  • Strong social, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, & Google Drive)
  • Must have a flexible schedule, will be expected to work Saturdays as well as evenings and nights as needed with advance notice. May work a Tuesday
  • Saturday schedule, seasonally.
  • Must be available to travel throughout California.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong organization skills and skilled working with data management.
  • Experience in teaching or managing basic skills or vocational training.
  • Background working with labor organizations or unions.
  • Experience working with immigrant populations and adult workers in low wage industries.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce
  • Experience managing staff, contractors or volunteers
