    THE CENTER FOR CAREER & PROFESSIONAL SUCCESS

    Formerly the Office of Career Services, the Center for Career and Professional Success (CCPS) is a unit within the Office of Undergraduate Studies (OUS). CCPS' goal is to become a standard-bearer for providing innovative and transformative career development opportunities for students and alumni through robust partnerships with prospective employers and industry experts. Working in partnership with the Office of Corporate Relations, programs and services include career development, experiential learning, and corporate initiatives.

    SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:

    Provides direction to temporary workers and student employees.

    NATURE AND SCOPE:
    Internal contacts may include senior administrators, faculty, students, and staff. External contacts include vendors, visitors, general public, and officials. Approximately 20%-40% telework (approximately 1-2 days per week) may be offered during summer and other non-peak periods throughout the year.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Manage onboarding and oversight of the placement process for Federal Work Study and non- federal student positions.
    • Assist with verification of student employment eligibility by working closely with the Office of Financial Aid and Human Resources.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including Financial Aid, Human Resources and Payroll to ensure placement objectives are met.
    • Provide oversight and ensure that employers are properly approving student time and offering sufficient and reasonable work hours per week.
    The Student Employment Program (SEP) is a job placement service offered to Howard University students through the Center for Career and Professional Success. SEP is offered as two programmatic areas: Federal Work Study (FWS) and Howard University Student Employment Program (HUSEP).

    The Program Coordinator for the SEP will coordinate and monitor all student employment positions, facilitate placement of students, ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulation.
    • Assist the Associate Director with development and implementation of policies and procedures for the Student Employment Program.
    • Manage and maintain relationships with on-campus and off-campus supervisors by providing training, support with postings and hiring, and general assistance with any inquiries about the Student Employment Program.
    • Counsel and assist students with on- and off-campus job searching/matching process through email and appointments.
    • Follow up with recruiters to confirm applications and interview schedules and communicate selection results with students.
    • Manage job postings and student profiles/data via the Handshake and Workday online career management systems.
    • Establish and maintain detailed database of student personnel records, employer contacts, student contracts, and other student employment related information.
    • Create policies, procedures, guidelines, forms, and other materials for appropriate campus websites.
    • Assist with the designing and planning marketing emails and e-newsletters to students and supervisors with program updates, job postings, and other pertinent program information.
    • Serve as liaison with department supervisors and students to resolve work-related issues.
    • Ensure that Federal Work Study goals are accomplished in accordance with priorities, time and

      funding limitations, or other specifications.
    • Compile statistical information, such as total hours worked and dollars earned toward Federal

      Work Study goals, for weekly, monthly, and annual reports.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    • Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relations with faculty, staff, students, and employers.
    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    BA/BS. Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the principal accountabilities of the job. Knowledge of human resources, budgeting, or accounting fields.
