Chemours is seeking an R&D Laboratory Technician to join our growing Operations team This position will report directly to the R&D Staff Supervisor at our Newark, DE location.

The technician position will be shift work with either of the following schedules:

  • Twelve hour rotating shift available in a chemical process area that operates 24/4. This position you will have all CHEMOURS holidays off.
  • Twelve hour rotating shift available in a chemical process area that operates 24/7. This includes all CHEMOURS holidays.


With guidance from supervision, assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research at varying scales and levels of complexity.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lab and pilot scale operation of high hazard chemical processes at the 100 mL to 200 gal scale, including polymerizations, batch and continuous reactions, distillations
  • Handling and manipulation of chemicals: compressed gas cylinders, 55 gal drums, half ton cylinders, tube trailers.
  • Management and safe execution of lab work of wet chemistry experiments using corrosive, toxic, and flammable chemicals.
  • Monitor and adjust chemical processes using automated control systems to successfully complete batch and continuous chemical synthesis.
  • Documenting and auditing specific operating, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Troubleshoot reaction, mechanical process, controls, or laboratory issues.

The following is _required_ for this role:

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Chemistry: General, Inorganic, Organic
  • Basic Unit Operations: Distillation, Heat Exchange, Mixing, Reactions
  • Process Control & Instrumentation
  • Basic analytical familiarity
  • Basic skill for reading and understanding "Process and Instrument Drawing" (P&ID)
  • High safety awareness and standards
  • Read and understand complex Standard Operating Procedures
  • General computer skills: Word, Excel, data entry
  • Accurate record keeping.
  • Self-motivation, able to work independently to complete given tasks
  • Ability to multi-task and have good time management
  • Basic mechanical skills for using small hand tools
  • Ability to wear an air-line respirator and acid suit, work in close quarters, and climb ladders/steps Donned in full PPE
  • Ability to lift 45 lbs. and move drums/containers using correct ergonomic methods

The Following is _preferred_ for this role:

  • Associates degree or higher in chemical process operation or chemistry
  • 3+ years related industrial experience
  • Knowledge of process control and instrumentation concepts
