This position is located in the Department of Parks and Recreation, Administrative Service Administration, Support Services Division, Facility Operations and Warehouse.


Duties and Responsibilities


The incumbent of this position performs warehouse operations; sets up designated areas in the warehouse for storing supplies and equipment.

Examines items received to verify part number, identity and quantity with routing documents; checks for discrepancies such as unreported damages.

Prepares supply requisitions for parts and materials needed to support the production shop work requirements based on supervisor request. Refers unresolved material shortages to supervisor, recommending proposal of local purchase or local manufacture.

Operates a panel truck to transport and unload supplies and equipment to recreation centers and predetermined destinations throughout the District of Columbia.

Operates passenger van and/or small bus with a 10-20 person capacity.

The operator drives the bus and/or van over predetermined routes and arrives at and departs from pick up and discharge points at scheduled times.

Operates the doors to allow passengers to enter and exit the bus. Keeps daily manifest, including trip ticket, mileage, preventive maintenance service records and accident records. Performs routine maintenance and safety checks on assigned vehicles. Checks fuel, oil, and water levels and takes vehicles to garage for major maintenance checks.


The incumbent will also perform miscellaneous duties such as assemble parts into kits, document items delayed or backlogged, prepare reports and maintain records, and operate pallet jack, forklifts, or light trucks to transport and unload materials.

On receipt of requested items from vendors and General Services Administration, incumbent checks for proper quantity and condition of materials; incumbent signs invoices for receipt or rejects the order.

If the order is accepted, incumbent establishes cost to charge the receiving unit. If order is rejected, promptly notifies the supervisor of the reasons and action plan for obtaining replacement materials.

Ability To Provide Production Support Service

Skilled in handling the controls for starting, stopping and driving the vehicle is preferred.

Experience in warehouse planning and accepted warehousing methods, procedures and techniques is highly desirable.


Licenses and Certifications
Incumbent is required to obtain a Government Driver's License


Working Conditions/Environment


The incumbent is required to work outside and is occasionally exposed to inclement weather and must always be mindful of defensive and safe driving tactics.

Subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or when unloading vehicles. Warehousing work is done inside and outside. Work area may be dirty, dusty and greasy.

Tour of Duty:
Monday - Friday 8:15 am - 4:45 pm; May be required to work weekends
