Definition of the Position

The City of Orange Public Work's Department is seeking a Construction Inspector I/II!

Under supervision, inspects public works construction projects ensuring compliance with laws, codes, and regulations.
Reviews and inspects traffic systems, signage, and lighting.
Demonstrates knowledge of public works construction and traffic engineering principles.
Ability to ensure compliance with City standards for traffic control and lighting systems.

Entry-level role involving inspection of construction projects and maintaining records.

Assignments become more varied as experience grows, performing duties with increasing independence.

Journey-level role conducting technical work in various public works projects.

Independently inspects workmanship, ensures compliance with regulations, and guides contractors for quality control.

Inspect various public works projects for compliance with plans, specifications, and safety practices.
Review plans for construction projects and prepare progress reports.
Inspect properties for damage from construction activities.
Collaborate with contractors to ensure adherence to standards and codes.
