    Department Overview

    Oregon Health & Science University is a nationally prominent research university and Oregon's only public academic health center. As a major regional referral center, OHSU has a varied and challenging caseload. The surgical pathology lab processes over 43,000 surgical specimens per year.

    The Department of Pathology has a collegial faculty, AP/CP residency program, a post-sophomore fellowship program, and five post-graduate fellowship programs.

    We are supported by excellent molecular genetic laboratories and a state-of-the-art core laboratory.

    OHSU offers a variety of collaborative research opportunities and is home to the Knight Cancer Institute, an international leader in research and cancer treatment.

    This position is under the overall supervision of the Department Chair.

    The appointee shall provide services, as assigned by the supervisor, in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

    Function/Duties of Position

    This position is primarily a research faculty position.

    Research responsibilities are to establish and maintain a grant-funded research program, with the expectation to develop an independently funded research laboratory.

    This position will be assigned clinical duties, including weekend and evening call, commensurate with subspecialty expertise.

    Educational responsibilities include participation in the instructional program for medical and graduate students, residents and fellows.

    Service responsibilities include participation in committees and councils of OHSU; outreach and public service programs and professional societies.

    The effort for this position at present is divided: 5% teaching; 15% clinical service; 80% research.

    Required Qualifications


    • Board certified in Anatomic Pathology and/or Clinical Pathology; MD, PhD preferred. Interest in providing the highest quality medical care and medical education, and actively participating in clinical scholar-type research resulting in sustained national-level funding and publications.
