- Participate in communications with municipalities and regulatory agencies as needed to facilitate processing of mine permits and related approvals.
- Attend meetings with regulatory agencies and public hearings as needed.
- Provide support to other departments regarding permitting as needed.
- Participate in permit application preparation and submission.
- Provides technical expertise in various assessments required by mining permits and problem solving, and technical assistance for permitting projects.

- Research new and keep current on the rules and requirements of each regulatory agency and/or municipality to facilitate permit processing and expedite completion.
- Prepare reports as required by county, state and federal agencies.
- Miscellaneous permitting duties and projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required with a major in biology, environmental science, mining, civil, geological, or environmental engineering.
- Required understanding of ecological principals of upland and wetland habitats and how these principals can be used in adaptive management to create and design more sustainable habitats.
- Strong background in ecological assessments of wetland and upland habitats preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

The Mine Permitting Specialist will participate in the planning and preparation of mining permits, permit modifications, annual reports, and other regulatory approvals to meet business objectives.
Additional responsibilities will include providing support to Reclamation staff on reclamation design and mitigation standards for preparation of CRPs and Mine Planning staff in determining appropriate preservation areas, infrastructure requirements and permit timing needs.
