    Job Description

    The University of Nevada, Reno, Department of Electrical and Biomedical Engineering is seeking candidates for a nontenure-track Research Assistant Professor with a preferred start date of August 1, 2024.

    This position will develop and validate new techniques to assist with wireless power transfer and passive energy harvesting, e.g. quantum dot, etc. This position will work with a collaborative team that spans graphene, microwave engineering, antennas, 3D printing, rectifying and beam steering electronics, FPGA, electronics chip design, embedded processing and control, and signal processing. The main responsibilities for this position include investigating and developing the next generation of wireless power transfer and energy harvesting techniques, prototyping the electronic systems to realize these techniques, and conducting experiments to validate the developed techniques and electronic systems.

    Required Qualifications

    PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related fields. The successful candidate must have working knowledge of microwave engineering, antennas, noise, heat radiation, and/or electronics. The applicant should have good written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to work independently and in a group.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the development of wireless power transfer and energy harvesting systems.
  • Skills in graphene, antennas, electronics, cellular phone systems, IoT communications, additive manufacturing of electronics, 3d printer ink design, waveguide and fiber devices, PCB fabrication, SMT pick and place, and electronics chip design at microwave and THz frequencies are a plus.
  • A strong publication record and presentation experience at industry conferences.
  • Industry work experience and proven ability to lead technical teams.
