Certifications/Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (ACLS)

Physical Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Prolonged period of standing and bending
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time

Overview:


The role of a Perioperative and Sedation Registered Nurse, working closely with the Doctors and Medical Assistants, will be to assist in providing nursing care to the patients undergoing a procedure within our medical office and to provide nursing care/support for patient in the perioperative (preoperative, intraoperative, and post operative) setting.


The goal is to ensure the clinic's operations run smoothly, effectively, and accurately to deliver maximum value to the organization and assistance to our patients in an environment where we are providing a high-quality level of care with a concierge feel.


Job Requirements:


  • Current licensure as an RN within practicing state or a multistate license.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Nursing degree from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Procedural/Critical Care background in ER, ICU, OR, Endo, IR
  • Strong critical thinking skill and decisive judgement.
  • Ability to handle a fastpaced environment.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Assess, plan, care for and evaluate the nursing care needs of the patient before, during and after a procedure.
  • Provide nursing care/support for preoperative/postoperative patients
  • Participate in the care of patients receiving conscious sedation.
  • Administer effective and safe moderate sedation utilizing standing order and verbal physician orders.
  • Continuously monitor patients' vital signs, airway, and sedation response throughout procedure.
  • Understand and be able to demonstrate normal dosing parameters for sedation medications and reversal agents.
  • Ensure safe transfer of patient care to post operative team with thorough communication and report.
  • Carry out physician orders.
  • Assists physician during procedures.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques and actively monitor situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.
  • Coordinate the procedure room with respect to sterility, cleanliness, availability of functioning equipment and supplies.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
  • Provide age and culturally appropriate care.
  • Orient and mentor new staff members.
  • Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • All other related tasks as assigned
