We are presently seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Admissions Specialist to join our admissions team for our state licensed and Joint Commission certified treatment center in Houston, TX. Salary will be commensurate with experience
Position Description:
The Admissions Specialist supports the organization by managing incoming inquiries via phone calls, online requests, and referrals from external hospitals and facilities, ensuring empathetic and compassionate communication with both clients and their families.
Essential Functions:
- Accurately documents clinical and client communications and uploads into EMR.
- Comprehends and communicates all levels of care offered, and individually prescreens for admissions and referrals.
- Maintains a working knowledge of our insurance contracts and coordinates appropriately.
- Understands benefits, communicates financial responsibilities to clients and their families, and collects payments.
- Serves as a liaison between internal staff and families, other institutions, referral sources, client advocates, etc.
- Facilitates crisis management and interventions
- Follows up daily on all open inquiries.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Substance Abuse treatment or Behavioral Health.
- Strong attention to detail with keen problemsolving and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a team and independently and efficiently coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and schedules in an allotted time frame.
- Ability to communicate positively and professionally with excellent oral and written communication skills, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accurate in typing and data entry.
- Prior experience in admissions within a substance abuse setting is preferred.
