Representative Duties


Provides medical education to EMS providers in accordance with accepted clinical practice standards and under the direction of the medical direction team.

Develops educational plans, assessments, and content for systemwide EMS training.

Assists with department quality and educational objectives developed and based on the systemwide quality program.


Provides oversight of the American Heart Association (AHA) program courses and certifications for the Orange County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) System and participating Orange County programs.

Monitors the status and qualifications of Training Site Coordinators and instructors over multiple training sites.

Directs and oversees the county's American Heart Association Training Center.

Maintains all required documentation and oversight of training sites and instructors.

Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field determined by the division; experience in medical education or closely related experience; 5 years of clinical experience as a Paramedic in an Emergency Medical Services system or as an RN in a clinical setting or an equivalent combination of relevant education or experience on a year for year basis.

Extensive experience in education in the clinical setting.


Knowledge of principles of adult learning, knowledge of principles of instructional design, ability to write concise, organized, accurate, and complete training manuals and related materials, ability to speak clearly and at a proper volume in front of groups of students and applicants, ability to conduct training programs, ability to establish and maintain good working relations with other employees, with members of the public, with other EMS or public safety organizations, with representatives of electronic and print media, and with local government officials, knowledge of state certification requirements for paramedics and EMTs.


Certification or Licenses Required:

Florida Paramedic or RN

ACLS Instructor

PALS Instructor

Prior critical care certification or experience

Salary Information:

Pay Grade: 01- From $ 31.80 to $50.89/hour. Salary will be based on Orange County Policy and qualifications

If your education was obtained in the United States, the County recognizes degrees or diplomas which are accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

If you have obtained education from a country other than the United States, your degree or diploma must be evaluated to determine the United States equivalency by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES) or the Association of International Credentials Evaluations (AICE) at your expense.
